20 The Biomedical Analysis program terms

Hi, my name is Gaelle and I have been studying in Biomedical Analysis for one year. This program is one of the most difficult ones at college de Saint-Jérome, that's why I'm going to give you a glossary, to help you understand some words that are very important in this course.

Analysis: noun; The identification and measurement of the chemical constituents of a substance or specimen.
Biochemistry: noun; The branch of science concerned with the chemical and physicochemical processes and substances that occur within living organisms.
Biology: noun; The study of living organisms, divided into many specialized fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and distribution.
Chemistry: noun; The branch of science that deals with the identification of the substances of which matter is composed; the investigation of their properties and the ways in which they interact, combine, and change; and the use of these processes to form new substances.
Equipment: noun; The necessary items for a particular purpose.
Haemostasis: noun; The stopping of a flow of blood.
Hématology: noun; The study of the physiology of the blood.
Hystopathology: noun; The study of changes in tissues caused by disease.
Immunology: noun; The branch of medicine and biology concerned with immunity.
laboratory: noun; A room or building equipped for scientific experiments, research, or teaching, or for the manufacture of drugs or chemicals.
Microbiology: noun; The branch of science that deals with microorganisms
Microscope: noun; An optical instrument used for viewing very small objects, such as mineral samples or animal or plant cells, typically magnified several hundred times.
Prefix: noun; A word, letter, or number placed before another.
Responsibility: noun; YThe state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.
Rigor: noun; The quality of being extremely thorough, exhaustive, or accurate.
Security: noun; The state of being free from danger or threat.
Specimens: noun; A sample for medical testing, especially of urine.
Suffix: noun; a morpheme added at the end of a word to form a derivative, e.g., -ation, -fy, -ing, -itis.
Technologist: noun; A person employed to look after technical equipment or do practical work in a laboratory.
Transport: Verb; Take or carry (people or goods) from one place to another by means of a vehicle, aircraft, or ship.
